What is the default time that a user can miss updates (eg. away from home for a few days etc) before Vipre will redownload the full database of definitions instead of just incrementals?

    Stapp,

I believe this is four days generally but it's based off of the incremental updates we currently have hosted. The reason we require a full update after a certain amount of days is due to the fact that we release so many definition updates per day and it can possibly take longer apply the amount of incremental definition updates that accumulate over four days than it would take to redownload and apply a full update. Of course, this can vary depending on download speeds and system performance.

I don't like the way it looks.

First off I was starting from version 4.0.4194 in this snapshot, so I appended the beta switch and got the download, which upgraded to v4.0.4269.

After the reboot which was then at v4.0.4269, I appended the beta switch, again. as follows, which let me install V5.0.5038.

This version has a new driver seen for the first time.

Any plans of including web filter in standalone AV like NOD32 or Bitdefender?

Based on this screenshot, it appears the 'quick scan' is decidedly faster. ;)

P.S. I don't run scans that often, as I have other measures that mitigate.

Excuse my stupidity, but I don't understand this "beta switch" feature.
Enabled it ok, running Vipre 4.0.4280, but can't see how to check for program update, rather than just definitions? Or do you download the installer, and just install on top? How does this work please?

Good Morning ! All I have to say in regards to the new GUI...I like it's Clean Green Mean Machine look. And to Page 42...Green and Bare it...Green and Bare it...Lol ! My main wish for Vipre 5.0 is that they've been able too introduce some form of digital fingerprinting to eliminate lengthy scan times...two plus hours on the full system or custom scans is far too long. Sincerely...Securon

Tried the beta initially on a snapshot containing Prevx WSA beta; incompatible with each other. Tried again with a new snapshot on Vista 32. Initial observations.

    1. Install took about 5 minutes with the threat definitions taking the longest time period.

    2. After reboot, applied beta switch and updated with no problems.

    3. Disappointed that they could not use the snake icon for the tray icon; if they can use this for the mobile version why not the desktop?. Quick Scan is faster IME, and overall program seems snappier.

Open main Window; Help>About will give you program version.

You should be able to install over your previous version; see here .

@Dermot7; no problem. Keep an eye on the GFI beta forum; you can post there with any problems. Their support is very good.

Overall, Vipre 5 looks promising for a first beta.
