Sorry for the double post :p

Excellent video, I liked the popup that said if it blocked it or not, plus I liked the fact you told us what type of malware was at each link. Over all 10/10 for the video and VIPRE did very well.

    Very well done video...

I would like to see two antivirus in your next tests, if possible: Avast 5 and NOD32 v4.

    Thanks!

True, there is. But this test is easy to view as the screen prompts tell you what was blocked or not. Solid result for Vipre.

To the original poster, good job with the split screen, so windows aren't closing and re-opening. And the list detailing what each threat does is good too. Take your time with tests, don't feel the need to rush out and test everything at once.

    Thanks for the feedback...

In my tests I disabled the "web shield" in order to see the true power of the AV engine. But I think it's an important layer of security and should generally be used...

    Did another one:

    Avast 5 Free - Prevention/Detection Test

The NOD32 v4 test was much more "interesting"... Will post it tomorrow...

I understand why you disabled it, as with some threats, they might be installed via USB.

Instead of doing the video again to test the web scanning of a product, the next product you test, you could place a summary at the end, 'web scanning blocked additional 5 pages = 19/20.'

Edit your first post and place the Avast link under Vipre. :)

Thanks, fun to watch. Turning off the web shield was good as I think folks are more interested in seeing how it deals with malware and not as much interested in how good the IP blocklist is.

One thing, I notice most tests I've seen on Youtube are geared for the "average" user and so the tests are done at the default settings. If you are doing the tests for folks here then perhaps it would be better doing them at more typical settings that people here would use rather than the defaults.

    Thanks again.

Seems fake AV's are big problem for real AV's.

IP blocklist is a function of Network Shield and not Web Shield, AFAIK.

IDEA: Keep the webshield on and test a link. If that link is blocked, turn off webshield and proceed.
