I'm using TI ver 10, build 4,871 on WinXP (sp 2).

When wanting to validate a split archive, does one have select each individual file, or will Acronis automatically sense and validate all the files in the archive? No mention of this anywhere in the excellent documentation that accompanies this software.

    BTW - I'm talking about a full backup of a partition ...

    Thanks!

You can select any file TI knows that they are linked.

    Hello Onik Arian,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Yes, as thomasjk said, it doesn't matter which one you select if the files are stored in the same folder, as the program recognizes them as a single archive.

If the archive is located on several CD\DVD discs, first insert the last CD\DVD and then insert disks in order the wizard prompts you.

The above also applies to restoring the data from the image archive, which was splitted into several files and creating incremental/differential backup.

We would also recommend that you download and install latest build (4942) of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home. To get access to updates you should first register your software.

    Thank you.

    Aleksandr,

Thanks for the additional advice about validating and restoring an archive that is split and burned to several DVDs.

I dl'd and installed the latest Acronis build as well.

And, while I'm at it let me give lots of praise about Acronis in general. I did my first save/restore of my C: partition today, and things went perfectly. What great comfort it is to know that I have a viable backup of my OS! For years I used Ghost for burning image partitions. Acronis is worlds apart from THAT clunky old program. The Acronis interface is elegant and user-friendly, and both the online help and the PDF manual are simply excellent. And I was especially pleased to discover that Acronis had built-in support for my USB external drive.

Acronis True Image is the slickest piece of software that I've purchased in many years, and the forum support is terrific as well.

    Best wishes,

    Onik Arian
