    Hello,
I have today installed v2.7 on a a pc running Windows 98 SE. At start-up it shows a message box saying the virus definitions are out of date, but selecting Update Now in control centre returns the message that the installation is up-to-date at version 2257 (2007/05/11). Now that is old! How can I get the definitions updated? This is after an initial "clean" install on this machine.

Thanks for your time and replies.

I have had problems for over two months now.
(search the forum for my name)
Currently I am stuck on virus signature 4547 (Nov. 4/09) on a Win 98 machine.

I like NOD, but it would seem it it time to move on.

Pressing update now for the last two weeks has got me nothing.

I can not find the download for anything but version 4 following that link.
Am I missing it or have they just dropped older versions?

My bad. They have moved it. Takes some poking around.
Will try later and post back if it works for me AGAIN. Was less then 2 months ago I had to do this.

If the install is not trial and there is a valid licence it should work

Hmmm. I've noted your replies Penny and will go down the reinstall route if necessary - thanks. i did also email an Eset Customer Care Engineer and received this reply in return:
"Has this issue resolved itself? I ask because our servers were being a bit odd yesterday afternoon and our teams were working on resolving it."
Two things strike me about this reply - one is the "a bit odd" bit - guess that's a technical term, huh? Second is - why ask me?? You've either resolved the problem or not. I hate to be stuck at a 1997 level of protection!

    Regards,

    Hello,

Just to update folks... I did a manual update on the pc today and it all went ok. Guess they've fixed the servers! :)

Is this sort of thing something we can expect for pc's using such an old OS?

    Regards,

    Mark
