Well it happened - my PC fried. Its beyond HDD failure. I think the motherboard on this old emachine is burned up 9power surge). Anyway, I was lucky to create TIB complete backup of PC prior to failure.

Now Im shopping for new PC. Of course, machines dont have all the software I had etc. Im wondering if I restore the TIB image on the new PC, can I get my old software etc on the new PC?

I bet Id have a ton of hardware issues etc. Is there any hope, or am I only going to get my document files back?

Your OS and some programs too are set up to work with the hardware on the ld machine, which will undoubtedly be diff on the new machine.

You could do a sysprep, make an image, of the old machine, and then do a restore on the new machinethen a repair/reinstall of windows, using the F6 command to load all the approrpriate hardware drivers for the new machine. However, your machine is apparently firend so you'll have to use the image you've got.

In which case, you could do a restore and BEFORE booting the new machine off the hdisk, boot the windows CD and do a repair/reinstall, using F6 to load all the appropriate hardware drivers -- I think the reinstall that lets you load new drivers will wipe your programs, though -- so you might as well do a fresh install of everything. It will probably be less messy.
