    I created an image on my USB Hard drive and verified it with Acronis 8. I then put in a new drive and attemped to restore that image to the hard drive, however, the USB drive doesn't appear on the list ... so I can't retreive my image for restoring. It does show up if I want to "Add a new disk" but then I have to create new partition(s) and destroy all the data ( where the Image is stored.

    Help !@

    Hello Rico898,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please make sure that you use the latest build (937) of Acronis True Image 8.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

    To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
    then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

    Please create new Bootable Rescue CD after installing the update, boot your PC from this CD and see if the problem still persists.

    If the problem still persists with the latest buid (937) of Acronis True Image 8.0 then please try the "acpi=off noapic" workaround as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    Please also check whether your external hard drive is connected to the PC through a hub. If yes, then please connect it directly.

    If that does not help then please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    Please also do the following:

    - Download and run Acronis Report Utility on any other "healthy" PC;
    - Select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;
    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed
    with creation of the bootable floppy;
    - Boot the computer having the issue from this diskette and wait for
    report creation process to finish;
    - Collect the report file from the floppy (usually named 'report.txt');

    Please keep your external USB hard drive connected while creating Acronis Report and Linux system information.

    Send these report.txt and sysinfo.txt files to support@acronis.com along with the exact model of your USB hard drive and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
