“Adobe trapped customers into year-long subscriptions through hidden early termination fees and numerous cancellation hurdles,” Samuel Levine, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, said in a statement. “Americans are tired of companies hiding the ball during subscription signup and then putting up roadblocks when they try to cancel.”

The latest subscription is not hard to handle. Adobe disables it after 3 years with no option to renew. A sort of built in kill switch.

Adobe will disable Adobe Elements 2025 three years after purchase

Here is the Adobe's answer to "How does the 3-year term license work": " The license is for a full 3-year term, with no monthly or annual recurring subscription fees required. The license is non-renewing — it expires 3 years after redemption at which time the Editor will no longer be accessible, but the Organizer will continue to be accessible indefinitely".
