In V3, updating from 3.0.xxx to 3.0.yyy did not require a reboot (in xp or vista).

In V4, we get the restart recommended message.

Was this message simply missing in V3 or has the requirement actually changed?

I understand the need to reboot on an upgrade (V3 to V4)....However, in a business environment it's a real pain to get 100's of users to reboot.

ESET Version 4 functions differently than V3 and does indeed require a reboot. It does not have to be immediate. Users can simply reboot at the end of the day or when ever is convenient for them.
