Update Installation Problem.

An update tries to install on shutdown, and obviously fails since it tries every time I shut down the computer. On manual installation try I get "Failed Installation code 682" which translates to closed connection. This happens on both my computers, one Vista Ultimate the other one XP/SP2. The only connection between the two, both are protected by ESS, set to default settings - strict. They are not networked.

What do I need to change in the settings?. I am familiar with access to advanced setup tree. Thank you for your help.
