    Hi Everyone,

I know that this topic has been discussed here before, but the most recent pot that I was able to find was over four years old now. So I wanted to re-open the topic.

I am interested in restoring a Windows partition onto a PC with disimilar hardware, and I am looking for the best/most reliable/most convienent way to accomplish this.

I am very interested in any advice or experiences other forum members have in accomplishing this.

Also, in the older the older post I found, someone mentioned a lot of headaches with having to re-activate Windows and other software. Any good way around this issue? Any software work better at eliminating this step than others?

I would be really appreciative and thankful for anything that anyone can advise and share about this process.

    Thanks,
    -CFguy

Nope. If you're license is a RETAIL version, and the new hardware configuration is similar or required due to system failure, you will need to chat with MicroSloth and convince them of your woes and requirement to move the license for valid activation on your new hardware.

If your license was an OEM license (store bought system like HP/DELL/Lenovo/etc.), you'll definitely need to purchase a new license... no system move for OEM licenses.
