I just happened to check Device Manager today and found an "Unknown" device. When I check Properties > Details > First installation date, it shows it was installed two days ago, but I have not added any new hardware recently. As it isn't working I've disabled it for now. How can I find out what it is? Thanks. Edit: Ah, hang on. I did receive and update to the PureVPN software recently. Hmmm...
Under what category is it listed in Device Manager? Could be a device on your system is missing a required driver.
Good instructions here. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2089...d-drivers-for-unknown-devices-in-windows.html

Ah ha! That explains the HMP detection then. HP Support Assistant just downloaded and updated the BIOS. Phew! Thanks Roger. That was after the "Unknown device" showed up though. Anyway, I have restored an image from last weekend and the "Unknown device" isn't showing up now, although I haven't updated PureVPN yet.
I have HP Support Assistant installed on my HP PC. Its HP help software made specifically for HP PCs.
Yep, I know. This was a clean Win10 install so I had no HP software installed. I installed HP Support Assistant myself.
Yup. I've also installed HP Softpaq Download Manager to install driver softpaqs for my HP PC model - those are OEM hardware drivers. HP Software Manager also checks for them. They've been recently updated to be compatible with all Windows 10 builds. They can be downloaded here: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/ads/clientmanagement/download.html
