    Thanks for the heads up. They boast that it is much better/effective than the big three (HiBit, Revo and IOBit) which is a really bold claim. So I'd be interested to know what the reality is and am curious to get feedback from real use. Unfortunately I'm not a tester so please share your findings.

    USA still the best. But barely.
    jv16 was my only tool back in 98SE days. I've long abandoned it. Not since XP I think.

    Ran it and no issues for me. The startup clean up script ran ok. The program found 2 leftover entries from programs that I had previously uninstalled.

    I installed PDFGear just as a test then used Uninstalr to remove it. It only missed these so not bad at all.

    Tried to install it in Sandboxie, but it took quite a long time to scan my PC for installed apps, so I dumped it, I'm not impressed.

    The scan time depends on the number of installed apps. Uninstalr will show you the data of the installed apps it will remove.

    Tried the latest version. It's a nice interface but takes 7 seconds on here to scan the system and then present you with whatever to uninstall. HiBit on the other hand is instantly ready.

    I looked at some "leftovers" pertaining to AdxCleaner thinking these were remnants from a prev. installation. Turns out it was set to delete ALL the Adw. folders. Also, it's saying there's over 7.5 GB of installed apps to delete where HiBit says 4.5 GB :cautious: Yet the Unistallr list had fewer entries than HiBitt's.

    Sticking w/HiBit for now but my mind's always open. :)

    @khanyash,
    Outstanding at founding left over. also, very good at cleaning up of the leftovers.
    Will keep with HiBit as a combination. Again,Thank you! Nice!

    I don't know if it was perhaps caused by Sandboxie, perhaps I should try again. But I do know that for example Geek Uninstaller is pretty fast.

    Th author explained in the Malwaretips thread the Uninstalr does not simply read the list of installed software from the registry as most other software does. It scans normal installation folders for software not listed.

    OK I see, but I don't really need such a tool. Geek Uninstaller is fast and works just fine, eventhough it probably doesn't list every installed app on my system. I can't stand these kind of slow tools, same with system cleaners.

    Tried latest version just now (2.5) - just curious if it lives up to the creator's claims - while bashing all the others here:

    https://uninstalr.com/blog/comparing-windows-uninstallers-and-making-uninstalr/

    Starting with his take on apearance:

    BulkCrap Uninstaller: And its user interface looks like a Christmas tree on an LSD trip. But at least it has some useful features like filters. I mean, it’s 2023. If you are going to display a long list of things, how about allowing the user to actually choose what they want to see?"

    RevoUninstaller: Its user interface looks like we are stuck in 2008 and the gray font on a gray input box is still cool. It was never cool.

    What also rubs me the wrong way is how some of these programs complicate things with obscure terms and superfluous user interface elements. Clearly some shoddy marketing bros got involved.

    For example, the previous two uninstallers don’t allow you to just, you know, uninstall apps. Oh no, the marketing bros had a drink and then a few more drinks and then they came up with the idea that you will also need to Quiet Uninstall things, and if they don’t go quietly, then there is also the Forced Uninstall. It’s like the amp that doesn’t go up to 10, it goes up to eleven.

    Or, how about the fact that there are separate user interfaces for “All programs” and “Windows Apps”. The mind just boggles with this one. Ain’t “all” going to include also “Windows Apps”, and besides, we are literally running Windows here – every app you install on Windows is a Windows app! None of this makes any sense to me.

    ==========================================

    BulkCrap Uninstaller is actually my cup of tea - and quite frankly - the user interface never bother me despite of having a thing for aesthetics "cause i spend very little time using this app" - and usability wise does shine (intuitive, fast enough - even tho slower than other uninstallers but also "really smooth"). Taking into account Uninstalr's creator bashing on the other two - as can be seen above - it's only natural to expect him to deliver. Yet, failed miserably - since Uninstalr has one the worst U.I. i ever seen on an app. Especially the dark themed version, but the biggest fail goes beyond looks (functionality wise - since this is the most relevant part). Version 1.0 was released more than a year ago - and now we're at version 2.5 but it performs like an alpha release - 0.6.1 alpha...

    Does say that it takes couple of minutes to load (not working like the rest - was mentioned above) - so i waited "as if running it on a AMD K6-2 450 MHz, with 64MB SDRAM and IDE 40 GB Maxtor DiamondMax 5400 RPM as a storage unit" - that's the last time i remember using an app running this slow/inefficient. And i don't mean just the loading part - the actual uninstall of some leftover from CrystalDiskInfo (C:\Users\x\AppData\Roaming\CrystalDiskInfo) - which was basically an empty folder - yet it spent quite literally over 20 minutes - doing who knows what (another detail worth taking into account - as why i deem it a really bad UI) - just that triangles wheel spinning endlessly. And to make thing worst - it even had that setting tweak which closes all apps it can close (including explorer.exe) - so the system was not just unusable but - for all i know this "hidden" background activity - could even be 0 day malware trying to bypass and disable all system defenses". Not saying it did that - and that's just it... I'm aware it's just wasting time with the most simplest tasks (removal wise) - but don't have the slightest idea what it actually does - cause there's no transparency in this regard. Did notice that - the script in question was constantly scanning for apps to close - continuously closing explorer.exe - but also closing TaskManager - while i was trying to get some idea of what could be happening under the hood. Thus, while managing to open it couple of times - i could see Uninstalr using 0.7% CPU resources and 290 RAM - but no progress/evolution bar, no verbose status - just nothing. And this was suppose to be... the creme de la creme in terms of User Interfaces or best... uninstaller (so boldly claimed).

    Then again, jv16 Powertools was boldly labeled as best registry cleaner (back then reg cleaners were praised as clean-up tools which could increase your system performance by 200%). And it was... so good... that trying it once - my Windows XP was unbotable upon restart. First registry "cleaner" that managed that. And now, here we are at bold claims - with the slowest performing app in windows history. Despite the Modern Tech Age - where fast storage and high speed ram is a low end commodity, but this app fails to use them efficiently. While a registry scanner is "the so called benchmark of this Uninstallers". Tho, if you ever used a reg-scanner - including the one developed by same dev - which is also objectively, one of the worst reg scanners - while lacking a core functionality like DELETE (only reg-scanner - which can't multi-select and delete entries - but hey "has a dark theme" - so the dev labeled his reg-scanner above the rest) - you'd notice that the found registry are not always tied to your search - just similar by name, so... they don't count. Also, if using a Reg-Scaner - an actually capable one like https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/regscanner.html - you could selectively delete the leftovers in question manually and accurately - and still finish 10x faster - that the automated app in question.

    Anyway, this was my experience and points of view regarding this app. That being said - i'll stick to actually practical/useful uninstallers made by Humble devs (neither claiming it's the best of the best - while selectively bashing the others with bogus/unreasonable claims).

    Uninstalr 2.8 released. Uninstalr is a freeware Windows software uninstaller that supports uninstalling software in batch and it has one of the best support for silent (unattended) uninstallation.

    Key changes in this version are:
    1. New feature: Users can now choose to skip some analysis types, for example portable apps.
    2. New feature: Uninstalr will now generate a log file after any uninstallation operation.
    3. Greatly improved the speed and accuracy of detecting installed software. On average, the program now works 23% faster.
    The full changelog is here:

    https://uninstalr.com/changelog/

    Uninstalr comes in two different but equally delicious flavors: Portable and Setup. The Portable version is a single executable file you can run and then delete when you are done, or run it from a USB device and carry it with you.

    The software is very lightweight of only about 6 MB in size and comes with 29 builtin languages, it supports Dark Mode and has a wide array of options to allow you to run it the way you want.

    For screenshots, more information and the download, please see:

    I’m the developer of Uninstalr. Feel free to ask me anything or let me know if there are any features that you would like to see added.

    @jv16 -

    Just a quick note of thanks. Uninstalr is my new go-to uninstaller s/w app. Had been a long-time user of another s/w application, but Uninstalr is a more complete, lighter, and feature-rich application. Very happy convert.

    Can you please share with us what "bogus claims" I have made about any other uninstaller?
