    Hi,

After the last problems I tried to uninstall the Microsoft Java but this cannot be done because the uninstall info is missing. That is the error MSG.

I tried to install the latest java version but this will not complete either. The error msg here is about unable to retrieve info from the target directory <?>

Q: how can I safely and totally remove the M$ Java and install the Java virtual <whatever> java on my system?
I run WIN XP pro with all patches installed.

I tried all things I could do from the FAQ and Helpfiles at the Java site www.java.com

I'm totally flabbergasted  why this won't install, any ideas?

    Regards

    Frans

I found a link to a tool. In my case, when I installed Sp1 for XP home, my java disappeared if I remember correctly.
If your problem were happening to me, I would probably try installing the last service pack again. That is just me!

Looks like it will be work.

I tried the links, they don't work. Apologies. Still looking.

Thanks but I will only go that path as a last resort.

I'll await the reaction of www.java.com's helpdesk

This is the second time this happens to me, I hope i can figure this out soon!

    Regards

The problem is an old JAVA (Sun's ?) setup version V1.3.1_09 which I cannot delete. The size is 0.39
Not possible to delete from the Software screen of windows

    How can I achieve that?

    Anybody?

    Frans

    ps
The wanadoo link was also good but did not help because of the fact that it's a sun's Java software problem and NOT M$'s

In my case, once again, I would reinstall Sun Java and and you would get an ininstall option in the control panel.

I will leave you alone now. I seem to be adding to the problem!

This problem still exists. An old version is corrupt en is still on the HD. software uninstall is not working because files are not there to use an uninstall.

Reg-clean keeps 'cleaning' over and over again, now over 20 times, no luck.

Any one ideas on how to remove this problem?

    Thanks

    Frans
