I recently bought the AVG antivirus + Ewido anti-spyware. The antivirus works well, but I'm still unable to update the ewido, even thought I did the activation. The following error appeared: Error: Failed to connect to server update.ewido.net. I need this working!. Please, let me know as soon as possible.

When you get the error "Error: Failed to connect to server update.ewido.net.", try exiting Ewido by right-clicking on the Ewido tray icon and choose exit, then restarting Ewido again and choose update again. See if this works. This works for me but some users don't get it working.

My daughter picked up some really crazy stuff on her machine. One of the things this insidious crap does is re-direct hosts. My jaw hit the floor when I read the hosts that were re-directed. Mcaffee, symantec, a few of the security forums and ewido updates were all re-directed. Spybot caught them. What this does is anytime you try to connect to an update site it re-directs you to a site that doesn't exist. This may be causing your problem. Spybot was able to fix but they keep redirecting within a short time of being connected to the internet. I removed the redirected hosts with spybot, had ewido open already and as soon as i plugged the network cable in, I clicked update. It worked. Also, I was in safe mode with networking support.

Just a thought. Look for re-directed hosts with spybot.
