    hi,
i have a compaq laptop with true image 7 installed and a rescue cd created.... i wanted to revert to an image so went thru the restore process in XP until it wanted to restart... all fine so far....

when the machine restarted it went to the acronis startup screen as its supposed to but then the screen when blank and then it just sat there. nothing.

i tried it again this time with the emaergancy boot disk in the drive and got the same thing... loading screeen appears but then the screen blanks and nothing happens....

has anyone had this problem or can suggest a remedy?

thanks in advance for any advice

    Hello --

    Please try the following workaround:

Please boot from the Acronis True Image 8.0 rescue disc and press F11 key when the "Starting Acronis Loader..." message appears. After you get the "Linux Kernel Settings" prompt, please add "acpi=off noapic" parameter to the kernel command line being the last one (do not remove the word "quiet") and click on the OK button. That should allow you to boot from CD.

    Thank you.

I have the exact same problem as was mentioned above. Do I have to purchase Acronis True Image 8.0 in order to create a rescue cd?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hello Mike,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

First of all, please make sure you use the latest build, which is available on our web site at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/. To get access to updates you should register your software first at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/registration/. Please disable any download managers, internet download/connection boosters, etc. before the download.

If it doesn't help please create Acronis Bootable CD with the latest (63:cool: build of Acronis True Image and try the "acpi=off noapic" workaround (please see https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317 for details).

If it doesn't help either I can suggest that you download the free trial version of Acronis True Image 8.0 from our site http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/trueimage/ and see whether you will be able to boot from CD created with it. If it fails please send a letter with the link to this thread to support@acronis.com and indicate that you want to contact Ilya Toytman.

    Thank you.
