Trying to image an IBM 380d laptop (old). Kept getting acpi errors and wouldn't boot, so now I have done F11 and put in the "acpi=off noapic" command in, but it shows this "unable to open an initial console" error then a bunch of "_alloc_pages: 0-order allocation failed (qfp=0x1d2/0)....write: unkown error 12" messages, then it just kills all processes and stops.

    Any ideas?

I am having the same problem on an older desktop:

initally receive this error: "ACPI: unable to locate RSDP" - for this I enter "acpi=off" from the linux kernel command line and click OK, then,

I receive a list of messages followed by: "unable to open an initial console" and the the PC reboots itself.

Pleaese help, this is driving me crazy!!!
