This is very strange.... I've tried downloading Ewido's free version (because the nice guy at microsoft told me to). Everytime i try it will go all the way through the download process and just disappear. I've tried saving to my desktop and to various folders within "my computer" and "my documents". Once download is done and it's not where I saved it (AGAIN) I do a search for "ewido" and all it comes up with is one cookie from the download page.... what is going on?:doubt:

are you trying to download the program from the ewido website?

i was able to download the ewido installation file..

are you using a download manager that might be fouling up the download?

i had a similar problem recently when i was trying to download another file from another website.. i don't know what the problem was..

here is the link for downloading ewido from the ewido website

yes I was trying to download the set-up file. It wouldn't let me dl ewido, spybot, or another one that I can't think of right now. I can download some things but there are also other files (like a pdf one for example) that I can't. I never had this problem prior to all the pop-ups I'm getting (for winantivirus pro 2006 - which is a virus, I do believe).

Hi. That WinAntivirus is a rogue antispyware progam associated with a trojan. I am not sure which removal procedure you should use, but there is one posted at bleeping computer. SEE:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18610&hl=Winfixer
I think you need to try to remove it from add/remove programs first, and then try removal procedures in safe mode.
Symantec and McAfee have removal instructions also, but my guess is that you may be unable to access their web sites because the trojan will block you. Here is the Symantec link that contains a removal tool:
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.vundo.removal.tool.html
There are two McAfee links with related info:
    http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_101169.htm
    http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=57049
That forum post contains a removal tool.
Here is another link that contains a special removal tool.

I am posting the multiple links in case you are blocked from downloading at any of them. If all downloads fail, you can try to obtain Ewido by having a friend download Ewido and the signature file installer ona CD and then transferring it to your computer. There may be directions in this forum for that, but I am familiar with these:
    http://castlecops.com/t137442-CCSP_Ewido_Install_and_Scan_Instructions.html
You need to try to download one of the special removal tools and use the instructions for it, and then scan with Ewido afterwards in safe mode. I hope this helps.
