In order to test if Acronis Home works on my computer I
created a bootable backup CD using Acronis Home. I also created
a complete backup of my system using Acronis Home to an
    external USB hard drive.
I then loaded the bootable CD and restored the computer from the USB drive.
The computer now works fine except for one problem.
I can only boot the system from the external USB hard drive.
If I remove the external USB drive and try booting I get a
    message

    STARTING ACRONIS LOADER

NO INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOOTING OPERATING SYSTEM
    PRESS <ENTER> TO REBOOT.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you create a SecureZone on the USB drive and also enable the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager?

If so, that's one of the "gotchas" you'll see described here. When you do that, the USB drive must be attached and running for the system to boot.

You can correct this by disabling the Startup Recovery Manager. Also, when using an external drive, I strongly suggest that you not use a SecureZone. Just save the images in a folder on the USB drive as you would any other ordinary file.

    Hello tottydoc,

To deactivate the Startup Recovery Manager you have to remove the Secure Zone (just as well, I would say, since I agree with John). Use the Manage Secure Zone tool to do that.
