UMplayer - freeware This is the best media player I’ve used so far. A portable version is also available. Some little things I liked: great rmvb reproduction, possibility to see and record you tube videos directly through the player, possibility to access Shoutcast and listen music directly through the player. http://www.umplayer.com/ http://www.softpedia.com/dyn-search.php?search_term=umplayer "A multimedia player that aims to fill all your needs with over 270 built-in A/V codecs it can play any media format. Funny that you mention it. Yesterday, I started looking for VLC Media Player alternatives. Not that I'm unhappy with it, just looking around. I eventually found UMPlayer. It seems quite interesting. I also like this skin. I have a thing for dark UIs.
That's from the FAQ. Any idea how that's done? Overall, seems pretty impressive. One more question ... I currently have WinAmp and Streamripper for WinAmp. What would be a suitable stream ripper for UMPlayer?
I've just been giving this a whirl and I'd have to say, even with my long term love affair with VLC;this is a very impressive player. It has a load of functionality and options to tweak...very nice find indeed.
With Windows 7, I've exclusively used WMP 12 with a Codec Pack. UMPlayer is an impressive product for the ones searching for an alternative Media Player.
Let's not be too pessimistic. From the forum http://sourceforge.net/projects/umplayer/forums/forum/1086463/topic/4452141 err0rsm1th (Is administrator of project)
Haha eeerrrr no comment I really like the Youtube and Shoutcast integration with this program, definitely a keeper for me.
SMPlayer gui might not be in active development lately but under the hood MPlayer is in continuous development. You can get the updated package of Mplayer with SMplayer and MPUI front end here. Changelog here. UMPlayer seems nice but it is just another frontend of MPlayer. So the actual credit goes to MPlayer not UMplayer.
That's some good info there. Thank you. I was kind of wondering about that. I've been using MPlayer (without the 'S' front-end) for some time as my player of choice. The KMPlayer as #2. Then there's MPC and of course WMP-- which just goes to show one should never use a player without an 'M' in the name. Though I feel for some of what I've watched, it would actually be more appropriate if I were viewing it on the 'BM' player, if you catch my drift.
i like it too i discovered few minutes ago thanks !! but there is a way to record for example from youtube? it does miss only a database ,sadly like KMPlayer
Yes you can record individually or multiple videos. You can just right click on any file in the search list and select record. The record button on the player records the whole list.
I've been using VLC for some time now and am happy with it, but this looks too interesting not to check out. Sounds very nice.
Starting to get audio sync issues. I have had to uninstall this, as their forums have a lot of user's with this issue. It has not been resolved, nor have users received any replies from product support.
