From the site of the Dutch museum "Rijksmuseum" in Amsterdam: https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/stories/operation-night-watch/story/ultra-high-resolution-photo See for example also the news site DutchNews.nl: https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2022/...-night-watch-photo-made-up-of-717-gigapixels/
But how do you view a photo online with a total file size of 5.6 terabytes? And what has the connection speed (bandwidth, etc) to be? And, aren't they afraid that if hundreds of thousands are trying to see it, it is going to be something similar like ddos? From what I understood, the average home user (not only the art experts) should be able to see it. Am I now making some mistake?
You can view it online HERE and zoom in & out with the provided +/- controls ad nauseum. How they do it is magic. It's quite fast too, on my i7M on a 1080p lcd screen.
Ah, thanks @kronckew ! I now used another browser and now I could see it Yes, it is indeed magic. Great to see the Nachtwacht that way
LOL. I assume this is all for the novelty of zooming in and looking at it. I don't know what you would do with it if downloaded. It's too big to open in a photo editor. At least I assume it is.
You'd be hard pressed to d/l it at anything remotely like it's full resolution, but you could possibly d/l it at lower res in sections with a bit of effort and stitch them together yourself,
