OK... didn't realize you were already working on it.
Thank you @Tigzy for reactivity. To users : This will be a long journey.... i took YEARS for SUMo to reach the current level, let's help @Tigzy !
Your right. I apologize for being mean and suggesting to make premium free. Sorry, but as long as portable apps are not fully supported, UCheck will be of little use to me.
After looking at it, Zoom has 4 different installers... 2 of them are registering the version in a different way.
We'll fix that server side, soon.
I saw a small discussion about being able to hide installed packages and is a handy option… I’ve got a few old-format database products that I will never update (may replace), and lots of self-authored software and you will never find the updates. It really simplifies things to exclude ‘never-to-be updated’ packages and programs from the installed list the same way you can exclude Microsoft products!!
@Bill H Zoom should be fixed now, could you confirm ?
Will AdwCleaner also be fixed? Just curious.
The thing with AdwCleaner is that I'm unable to reproduce with the upcoming version (tomorrow).
Sooooo, I think I'll wait for your feedback
Oooooh, an upcoming version of UCheck? Looking forward to giving it a whirl.
No big feature, just bug fixes and preparation for Portable softs compatibility.
Community feedback will take way more time, also there's GDPR considerations etc...
Thanks for the info. I'm sure UCheck is getting better and better with every new version.
Pm me when it actually has the feature to check and find for updates to portable software on a system so i can translate it to Swedish.
If i have not sent you a Pm when you have announced it here that is.
Looking forward for the update !
@Tigzy : UCheck misses to notify about Powershell Core update to 7.3.7 : https://github.com/PowerShell/PowerShell/releases/
Yes, it is no longer showing an available update.
Absolutely. We should all be grateful that @Tigzy is willing to give our requests a go.
Isn't that managed by Windows Updates ?
Ok, I've received dozens of messages, here, there, on our support ticketing system and forum. That's great, really, I'm very happy with all the feedback.
However, It's really overwhelming .
Yes we will try to support software X, Y, Z. We will, but not now.
Currently the priority is 2 things:
- Build a "Community feedback" system. It will collect INSTALLED software list from all the clients (having the feature enabled, it will be by default...) and send it to us.
This will create a supported (limited) list of software, with current version. This list will be then served back to the clients to find MORE SOFTWARE (ideally ALL of them) and tell if there's a newer version.
So I'm pretty confident all your X,Y,Z software will be in this list, and have limited-support by UCheck once this is deployed. The name of the software doesn't matter at this stage.
- Then. This community feedback list will obviously have more entries for the most popular software.
We will (internally) use this list as a TODO list, and iterate through it top to bottom and add them for FULL-support (which means ability to update/install from UCheck).
That way we ensure we don't add them randomly (or on demand), and focus on the most seen software first.
Hope that answers most of the questions about UCheck not supporting X,Y,Z
So please, for now, refrain from asking to add new software to the compatibility list. It's not going to happen short term.
Portable software compatibility will come next, because it's way more complicated than installed ones.
Basically any folder can contain any type of file, and we cannot trust the clients when it comes to database feeding.
And new UCheck version is out . No big changes, as I said.
I just installed 4.10.2. Thanks for the update.
I see that the installed list now includes AdwCleaner. This is the only portable app that appears in the list for me, but I'm thinking based on reply #121 that you just haven't finished incorporating portable apps yet.
I have quite a few entries in the installed list that show no Company, Size, or Location. I hadn't noticed in version 4.10.1 so I'm not sure it this is a new issue in 4.10.2.
Is there is a key somewhere as t what the highlights are on the rows in the Installed list. I have some that are highlighted in red and some in purple. I think the purple is showing supported apps. What is the red?
I registered on the forum at https://forum.adlice.com/, but I'm still awaiting admin approval. It has been over a week. Do I need to do something to get it approved?
