ubuntu set to read only the ntfs volume

    Hi

    can i set ubuntu 10.10 to read only the ntfs and fat32 volumes?

    i would like to delete the "format" on the right click mouse ..
    when i mount a volume , and i click on with the right mouse click there is a format :doubt: :doubt:
    is there a way to delete this ?

    Don't make changes unless you want to hose your installation. When in doubt, leave the default alone!

    Making changes that aren't needed can do more harm than good.

    I haven't used Ubuntu in a longtime, but I thought the Windows partition was umounted by default. This would prevent any unwanted changes to the Windows filesystem. If this is what you are worried about then just remember to not mount the partition. If it automounts then you can edit /etc/fstab carefully to not automount and also change permissions to read-only. Here is a article that will help you edit and understand /etc/fstab.
