Got my issues resolved. Tech support sent me an ISO of version 188.8.131.5209. I was not able to make a CD out of that - when I burned it, I ended up with a CD with a volume name of "Acronis" and nothing on the CD. Could have been something I was doing wrong. But they also sent me the install .exe for version 12.0.9608. I installed that and it works fine. I would advise anyone else who has this problem to uninstall version .9709, run the Acronis cleanup utilities, then install version 12.0.9608.
