Computer: HP Presario V2000 with WinXP Pro, SP2
True Image: Home version 9.0, build 3854

I have been using TrueImage since 2005 with no problems, but suddenly it is hanging on my laptop during the 2nd operation (Create Image Partition). It shows "Operation in progress 0%" indefinitely. The icon in the system tray continues to rotate. The "Current operation progress" and "Total progress" never update (i.e., remain blank).

I tried installing the update (build 3854), but it had no effect. XP Pro SP2 is up to date on all MS patches. I have run Anti Virus and Anti Spyware scans with my security Suite (Zone Alarm 6.5.737.000) and Ad-Aware SE 1.06 and Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4.

I tried a few more things with it today, but nothing worked.

First, I tried another backup to the same network drive that failed yesterday, with exactly the same results. I let it try for about 2 ½ hours, and it never created any backup files on the network drive and the status stayed on 0% the whole time. Clicking “Cancel” does not work. I clicked “Cancel” and gave it over an hour, but it never ended the backup. I was able to “X-Out” of the status window and the main True Image window, but the rotating icon in the System Tray continued rotating. Right clicking on it and selecting Cancel had no effect, other than stopping the rotation. I used Task Manager, and discovered there were two True Image Monitor process and one True Image something else (I forgot what). I was able to kill the two Monitor processes, but I couldn’t kill the other True Image process. I tried starting True Image again, but it wouldn’t start. I rebooted.

Second, I tried copying a file onto the same network drive with Windows Explorer, and it worked fine. I was then able to delete the file, so there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the networked drive capabilities.

Third, I tried doing another True Image backup onto a different network drive on a different computer, but had the same results.

After rebooting, I tried backing up the System drive onto another partition on the same computer I'm running True Image on, but that behaved in exactly the same manner.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    bbent

I'm having the same exact issue trying a TrueImage 10 Home Trial copy.
I've also tried disabling ZoneAlarm Security Suite, with same results.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thx,
    Giorgio

You haven't by chance installed the dreaded Ver 7 of ZASS, have you? It doesn't like ATI, and a lot of other programs. Ver 6.5 shouldn't have any conflicts.

I'm using ZoneAlarm Security Suite version 6.5.737.000.

A little new information ... I removed TI and re-installed build 3854. Afterward, it actually works! However, it is MUCH slower than it was before. The slowness could be due to the different build than I had been using for so long, but at least it works.
