I often run Trend Micro Sysclean as a standalone offline virus scanner as a supplement to AVG Free Edition. They have refined the application to optionally use their latest spyware patterns file as well as anti-virus patterns. When you run the "Sysclean.com" engine you need to download the file "ssapiptn(nnn).zip" (where nnn is the latest version number available). You then extract the spyware pattern file just as the anti-virus pattern file has been always extracted. The name of the spyware pattern file is "ssapiptn.da5". As before, you place the spyware pattern file in the same folder with the sysclean.com and anti-virus pattern file before running it from a command window or in Windows Explorer.:)
If you do not wish to use the optional anti-spyware patterns simply uncheck the box on the opening screen that asks to perform the anti-spyware scan or just delete the "ssapiptn.da5" file from the folder.

SysClean has been a decent First-Aid solution.
With the AntiSpyware support, it is even better now!

I've use SysClean together with Dr.Web CureIt! (the No.1 Free First-Aid solution)
and the AVZ Antiviral Toolkit . Also, here
