I have a Dell N5010 where with the touchpad i can scroll up and down pages with two fingers running up and down on the touchpad and go back and forward between pages running three fingers left or right.
This works not only for browsers, but also for documents etc.

I have tried Mint live cd but been unable to use the touchpad in a similar way.
It there an easyway to accomplish this on Mint??

Tony, have you looked to see whether 'Two finger scrolling' is checked under Preferences > Mouse > Touchpad?

Yes, installing the DKMS package will release the 'Two finger scrolling' box for checking, if it's not already available.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I have tried this but as soon as i put more than one finger on the touchpad then the pointer just jumps around the screen.

Maybe worth trying this again then with a new live cd session.
