What difference is there in putting "localhost, 127.0.0.1" in the NO PROXY FOR box or not doing this? Does it create less anonymity? I use DSL and am not connected to an intranet.

No difference whatsoever - 127.0.0.1 is the loopback address which refers back to your own PC so you should never (unless you are running your own web server) need to access webpages at that address anyway.

Use 127.0.0.1 rather than localhost. localhost can be overriden in your host file.
