It does make one wonder doesn't it? It could just be thousands of hours of development for free and he has hit a wall. I have done that before on certain projects and after a few years you are just done. I hit that wall with TrueCrypt code and "fixing" things on a zillion threads. Now I mostly just read through and keep moving. A wall is a wall. Of course a suspicious mind can think sinister, which is what you were hinting at.
