    Hello

    I had a question

I have TMIS 2005 on my pc (Trend micro internet security 2005)but my ISP has updated there AV to Mcafee 9.0 and my question is

Is mcafee 9.0 better then TMIS 2005 or are they even strong

    Thanks
    Stephan

Depends. If you are getting McAfee Antivirus only, then I'd say TMIS is better because it provides more features.

However, if you are getting McAfee Internet Security edition then it is no-brainer because McAfee's firewall is among the best and their virus/trojans/adware/spyware detection is *MUCH* better than Trend Micro PC-cillin.

That's an OK setup...but TMIS also gives you spam blocker, website scanner etc. right? If you don't need those features, then keep McAfee, its better than Trend any day.

McAfee Virusscan Enterprise 8.0i is better than Pc-cillin.
F-Secure Internet Security 2005 is better than TMIS.

+1, it will be better choice if you have a chance to buy enterprise edition of mcafee.

Not an option for Home users.
No, the Home and Enterprise versions have similar detection rates; http://www.av-comparatives.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=438#438

Its not that bad either...only that there is no comparison between TMIS and McAfee in terms of performance (not features)...

The nice part about enterprise is that it incorporates some features normally found in firewalls & IDS solutions. This helps protect from blended threats, buffer overflows, and things of that nature. Also, active x is not a requirement to receive updated dat's.

I was not talking about the possibility of using the product on a Home computer but the chances of an individual purchasing this AV.

Unless McAfee have recently changed their policy, you cannot buy a single Home-User License for this Corporate AV.

McAfee does not sell these Enterprise products to individuals. However, if your Company/College/University uses it then you can install it on your Home Machine. Just ask your IT Department.

Since you use this AV, Smokey, I am sure you know all this :D

    Hi Blackcat!

    Your explanation is satisfying me;)

Now the other forum members understand, that's not possible to buy a single Home-User license for McAfee VSE8.0i:)

TMIS is trimmed towards detection of In-The-Wild malware, while KAV and McAfee are also geared towards finding zoo malware (y'know, the ones which are not rapidly spreading), which is why they are a better choice.
