I was wondering, is tiny firewall discontinued :doubt: because when one enters their website it shows this message
"Can't contact servlet runner at localhost:6802".
I had bought its professional version last year and now i want to reinstall it but now their website seems to close. Does anyone here have any idea regarding this matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like things have gone from bad to worse. The site seems to now be officially decommissioned. If you were not already aware, CA purchased Tiny last summer http://netsecurity.about.com/b/a/181336.htm

What they intend to do with the Tiny firewall, no one seems to know for certain. I tried contacting them for some info a while back and all I got was a robotic autoreply. What you have yourself is a truly great firewall with no official support.

    Try from here http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Tiny_Firewall_2005/990105191/1 ashishtx.

Hopefully CA re-establishes further development and support on it. It would be an absolute shame if they don't.

Tiny's website was just fine last several days, and I got the same message as you did today. So I figure it is most likely a temporary server problem.

For a security application like TPF, you'd better wait and download directly from the source (original producer). There was news at TPF forum saying that there would be a new version upcoming at the 4th quarter this year. Maybe it's just a rumor. No one really knows.

Or go to this page...there's a link at the bottom to download 6.5.126 Pro direct from tiny:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (edited since TPF link at this location no longer works)

Please clarify the abbreviation "imp". The entire URL address usually has a designation of the location of a web server. For the vast majority of the searches that people in the US initiate, the servers are usually are located in this country so the ending of the address would be US (it is implied by default). You normally have to specify web servers in other countries by using a two letter designation for that country (I am not sure if this is the case for browser programs that are not in English). Otherwise, your URL entry may not work. Downloading files from outside the US usually take longer since the connection has to travel a longer distance. So if I downloaded a file in Russia, it would take longer than within my own state.

If I did not answer your question correctly, please let me know.

    Aigle,
No problem, Glad that I clarified your question. You can try it out if the location of the server makes a difference (if you use cable or DSL service, you may not notice the difference). I still use dial up and you can a significant slowdown when downloading files from overseas (such as the case with Antivir which is in Germany).

And there is a new CA Personal Firewall (with Tiny PF technology included, as they claim...). Curious if it is any good...

If that is the case, you should look for another service provider. You can find lots of them at this website.

    http://www.freedomlist.com/

All2easy.net is offering nationwide dialup service for $4.95 a month
