    Setup is in my sig, but Im considering changing it up again.

    Comodo is light on my laptop with all components enabled. However Im thinking about switching it up again to get even lighter.

    Im going for lighter and stable as always with top notch detection rates. I do download lots of sketchy things from the internet.

    I may just run without a firewall as the only places I use the net from my laptop are the local community college and my own house.

    I may also use a cloud based AV, but not Panda as in the past I couldnt turn it off if I needed to. Even with it disabled it still deleted random things.

    Are you asking for input or simply telling us that you will trial other setups and report back with your experiences? I hope it's the latter....

    A light set-up? Good idea. I suggest Prevx-with-SOL for the AV, & the firewall that is built right into your Win7 OS.

    Let us know what you decide & how it works out.

    Input would be nice. Im only familiar with a handful of security apps.

    CIS, MBAM, SAS, KAV v7, KIS v7, ESS in its early stages of v4, Avast, and Avira. Other than that I have no experience outside of those AV's.

    If you are interested in Cloud AV Comodo 5 is close to be release, they will include Cloud AV and a cloud behaviour blocker.
    Comodo covers almost everything but probably you will want to add more things but you still want a lighter setup.
    Immunet Free or MBAM Pro
    Safe Online "facebook free version"
    Peerblock if you use p2p
    If you replace the CIS AV Norton or Karspersky are a good choice.

    Totally agree with bellgamin. As it's my current setup, it's quite light on my laptop. I'm planning on adding a HIPS layer to my setup though.

    Here http://www.prevx.com/safebook.asp you can get Safe Online for free. It's very easy to use and very intuitive.

    What good is a scanner that cant remove?

    I fail to see the positive side of PrevX Safe Online. If I do get infected downloading sketchy things then PrevX is useless to me.

    For those visiting the dark side, I would recommend browsing and downloading in Sandboxie. Read up on it.

    Note that Prevx does not work in Sandboxie.

    Im familiar with Sandboxie. The lag in the browser is ungodly and frankly SandboxIE is worthless on an X64 OS.

    No, Prevx will tell you that you're infected. Use MBAM Pro which you already have to remove the virus or any other online-scanner available.

    Prevx is the way to go if you want ultra-fast speed. Even if infected, you can do online stuff without ever exposing yourself. Of course, I'd buy it so you get the removal/protection components as well. Working flawlessly.

    Immunet Pro would be my suggestions. They have most of the bugs worked out of it now and are cranking up the detection with the cloud engines. Very much improved.

    If your computer is infected by a trojan able to steal information that goes throughout your browser SafeOnline will protect you. The good thing of Prevx SafeOnline is that adds protection to the browser and not the Prevx engine.

    Give me a minute to connect this topic up -- I am not going OT even though it may seem so at first.

    BACKGROUND: One of the VERY best security applications is a drive imager such as Macrium Reflect -free. You should image your system drive at least weekly, & retain at least the latest 3 or 4 images.

    CLEAN-UP: If malware is detected on your computer, one of the VERY best clean-ups is to restore a recent clean image of your system drive. It will "clean up" any malware far far better than any other type of cleaning.

    BOTTOM LINE: Given that an imager is the best clean-up method, we are now at liberty to select security programs based primarily or solely on their ability to DETECT malware.

    Accordingly, Prevx-free with Safe Online is an excellent antivirus IMO, and one of the very lightest of all the top tier AVs.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    P.S. I don't want to go OT any more than I already have done. However, I must mention that a daily integrity check, coupled with use of a drive imager, pretty much displaces the need for a HIPS.
    Ive got Paragon that I won from here when Wilders did that software give away coupled with a 1.5TB Barracuda HD.
    I think Ill just go with PrevX and Windows FW or LnS and possibly flip Windows Defender on.
    I thought that prevx was not a substitute of the AV's
    Yes it is a full AV and Anti-Malware! http://www.prevx.com/certification.asp I just run in realtime Prevx with SafeOnline , Look'N'Stop Firewall with Phant0m`s Ruleset for an extra $9.99CAD takes all the guessing out :D and WinPatrol Plus and No UAC and No LUA! And many On-Demand scanners that just find yummy cookies :p and all behind a SMC Firewall "N" Router very fast and snappy setup IMO!
    I have never seen Prevx beeing tested with other AV's in any serious test. I mean I want to see the details of the test, a report, not just a fancy sticker of westcoast lab
    BTW I have reported in 2 weeks 5 or 6 FP's of common and safe sofware like babylon 8 and others, also it missed half of the 0-day malware when I tested it.
    I'm just letting you know that it is a complete Anti-Malware as to it's detections that another story as no product will detect 100% but I'm happy with it and for the average user it's great for us who like to play on the Dark Side that's a whole another cookie isn't it? That's why I have VMware and Shadow Defender!
    Average user it's great for the Dark Side users you will need much more!
    Regards,
    TH
