TIH 2009-Back up of Partition on IDE to Sata Drive?

    Hi:

    Question... I backup a data partition from an IDE External HD via usb interface to my computer. Are there any issue restoring this IDE image to a Sata drive in the future?

    No, it works fine. The file systems are the same whether IDE or SATA.

    But do a test restore or at least go through all the steps except for the final Proceed. This will let you know that the ATI boocd can see all your drives and restore to them. If you don't do this, you won't know until you try to restore for real, and that could be too late. the bootCD (and when you start a restore form within windows) ATI boots in linux and the drivers aren't always the right ones for your hardware -- so you have to check.
