Yes, but theres no ESET Antispam-Integration and Lightning doesnt work either
I had the 64 bit Shredder installed on Win 7 Ultimate and had many problems with getting the Enigmail add-on to work, and was feeling pretty peeved. Until now.
And now 3 has arrived
Ditto for KIS 2010 Build 736.
Apparently, according to the in built Update Wizard, the Anti Spam Add On that is part of Build 736 is not currently compatible with Thunderbird 3, which has just been released by Mozilla. The wizard states that as part of the upgrade process the KIS add on (plus a couple of others that I use) will be disabled and not re-enabled until Thunderbird detects that the is a newer compatible version).
Have posted on the Kaspersky forum to see if anyone there know as to the validity of this and whether there are any plans in place to restore compatibility.
Beware of upgrading TB2 to TB3 if you have non-default setting for your Thunderbird profile.
Like some others I keep my TB profile on my data drive (D:\Mozilla Profile\Thunderbird Profile etc. with the TB profile.ini in the Documents &Settings\User Name\Application Data\Thunderbird pointing to this profile.
However TB3 doesn't seem to be able to see the profile as it appears to have been coded to look only in a new folder- C:\Documents & Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Applications\Thunderbird\Mozilla Thunderbird\Profiles.
The 'bug' doesn't seem to have been spotted before but it makes TB3 unusable for me.
Moving the profile back to this location does not work either so I guess TB3 is out for me.
Edit for updated info: It appears it does accept the 'altered' profile.ini but only if you uninstalling TB2 completely & delete all remaining files from C:/Program Files/Mozilla Thunderbird followed by a clean install of TB3.
Not sure why and it may just be my rather elderly XP playing up rather than a problem with TB3 - although there are a couple of people with similar problems on the Mozilla TB forums
Ha! The portable version is there, too. But:
Hi, this would be my case when I make the transition so I want to monitor closely the situation - could you post the relevant links (a quick search of the forum revealed too many possibilities to investigate)
EDIT: Installed TB 3.0 on top of 2.X with no problem. TB is on C: partition, TB Profile on D: partition
For a test, I installed TB3 over TB2 with no apparent problems; still was good after a shutdown and restart. I made no changes prior to the installation. I'm on XP SP3, with my TB profiles on my D partition: D:\Thunderbird\Profiles\etc. I've had problems before with version updates on Thunderbird, perhaps I just got lucky this time.
I'll restore my C and D partitions, as I want to wait for some of the extensions to catch up.
