This option is to create sniffer rules, i.e. rules that will not block/allow a packet but just log it.

It is a rule that will not block/allow a packet but just log it ;)

In other words, the rest of the ruleset continues to be examined, to know if the packet has to be blocked or not.
With a standard rule, the packet is allowed or blocked and the other rules are not examined.

    Hi -NiCeGuY- :)

    1- Double-arrow symbol:

This control allow a program to launch an other one...

    Example:

Windows explorer never connect directly to internet but it is needed to launch all the other (like a browser). The double-arrow symbol means that w.e is allowed to do this.

When this control is disable (no double-arrow symbol) the program is allowed to connect to internet but not to launch an other program to connect to internet...

2- Different way to start LNS:

Start menu = you have to start LNS manually <<== edit: wrong! this is a stratup from user's start programs.

System = LNS is started as a program from HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Service = LNS is started as a windows service (to check the services: start | run | services.msc ...)

    3- Extra-save

The list of the authorised programs are saved into a ".reg" file in the LNS folder.

    :)

    Hi -NiCeGuY- :)

    Oups !

The option "start menu" is NOT a manual startup
but an LNS startup from user start programs...

    Sorry.

    :)

    Hi,

LnsSvc is used automatically by Look 'n' Stop when you have configured the start mode to SerViCe. You don't have to use it by your own.

Lnscfg is used to install/uninstall one driver. Again this is automatically used by the setup and the uninstaller, and you don't have to start it manually (except if I ask you to do so :) to solve a problem )
