    Hi,
Thinking of trying FF as an alternative to IE.

I've read al the posts about which browser is best etc....so no recommending others ;) .

What addons should I be looking at apart from NoScript.

    Thanks in advance

customizegoogle so google can't spy on you and adblock plus. there's a thread about firefox extensions, i have about 30 and i think they are all important, but they are the main security ones above i think.

actually, there's cookiesafe too, that has an option to disable 3rd party cookies and there's dr web link checker to check downloads before you download them.

Beyond Noscript for additional security the rest are pretty much at your discretion. One other suggestion I will make is MrTech. What you need, want, expect from a Browser can pretty much be done with the aid of plug-ins. I run 20. I came to my selections by using FF for several years. During that time period I would think to myself, "boy it would be nice if FF did this or did that". A quick Google or a stroll through https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:1 would usually turn up what I needed. Enjoy FF, always a learning curve. Stay the course, IMO, it is worth it in the end.

Googling Firefox brings up a few download sites. Can anyone confirm the 'home' of FF and are all the addons safe ?

The proper link is HERE. The same as in my first post. In theory, all add ons posted there are safe.

    Huwge,

Keep it simple to start, for security reasons run noscript, cookie safe, McAfee Siteadvisor, and maybe adblock plus (this maybe optional).

Most extensions beyond this are a matter of personal customization and for fun.

My only guess would be that you may have altered your default Content settings. Font type and size. Other then that I am at a loss. No problems here.

Cookie Safe is great to control your cookie permissions on the fly.
Like Noscript (very similar UI) but for cookies instead of scripts.

Can you explain your statement about customizegoogle please?

I just checked the extension & all it seems to do is to include other search engines in the Google search page.

(I'm assuming that you are suggesting the sort of protection you get with sites like Scroogle.)

I believe this is the Add-on being referred to. Use it myself.
