Since setting my computer back up after moving, I keep getting the error message "The parameter is incorrect" on every MS update I try to install, on system restore, any new program I want to install and even program updates.
Everything else is working, but, I have no idea what to do??

The Windows KB talks about parameters, but, if that is my problem, EEK!

I am hoping it is just a setting gone wrong? This happens even as administrator - in safe mode I don't get the message, but nothing else happens either.

Anyone have any suggestions? Appreciate it, I can't update or use any firewall but XP, not good.

    Thanks in advance!!

DUH! I am using Firefox 9.2, WinhomeXP2, ran all my ad/spyware progs (Spybot,Adaware,Spyblaster,Spyguard,Winpatrol, using XP firewall and ProcessGuardFree) I did defrag and had Sygate Firewall installed, but, it doesn't seem to be working either, A2 won't work,Avast seems all right.)
Thanks again for any ideas! :D

    Hi Marja,

    Is this happening while online?
Take a look in your logfiles for an error number because there are a couple of different issues that
show up if you Google....error message "The parameter is incorrect" ...don't know enough to say... :doubt:

Actually, a screen image of the error might help here because that will give some context - i.e. type of error box it is in and so forth.
