    not sure, but dont they already? i have seen to much CSI new York with too much cam views ;)

    but for the content - here in germany some local street surveyors now use a 360 degree cam view with a pre-given route to track street damages. an AI driven program analyses the images and detect the most urgent holes. (3D measuring of holes)

    for the NY trains its much less efford and personal damage to expect while a personal inspection takes a lot more time and could mean accidents or complete stoppage for tracks. at least less money, less injuries, more accuracy.

    the deutsche bundesbahn also have special trains with a lot of sensors to inspect their tracks, in a much faster way you can do with a visible inspection from men power. in details: high speed cams, sensible mikes, sensors for side motions of axis.

    Agreed, they should absolutely uses devices over people.
