The Lxle Desktop Revive that old PC. Full featured desktop for an aging PC. I've got an older Dell Netbook that uses an Atom N270 processor and requires an x86 O/S. Does anyone here have any experience with Lxle?
Are you Linux experienced? What would be your OS uses (all)? Knowing this we wouldn't be wasting time.
http://lxle.net/ I used it on my old Belnea x86 notebook that only had 1GB of RAM and it ran well. It originally ran Vista, then I converted it to Ubuntu. I tried LXLE as it runs well on older and less capable hardware. I believe it's based on Ubuntu, so if you've used that you should easily adapt to LXLE. Unfortunately my old notebook eventually died of hardware problems, but I never regretted converting it to Linux.
Agree with @Daveski17. LXLE was phenomenal for me on our old desktop which recently died of hardware issues.
I thought it ran slightly faster than Ubuntu 14.04. I'm amazed how I ran Vista on that old Belnea with 1GB of RAM lol.
For what use? Internet, youtube, etc.? Even lightweight distros for older hardware like LXLE do not run well on cpus with passmark bellow 300... at least distros/versions released after 2015. If you find they run slow, either try an older version or give a try to raspberry pi desktop (it runs really well on slow cpus) https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspberry-pi-desktop/ Panagiotis
