    So, a new twist on polymorphic malware? Or is this even new? I could swear I remember hearing of some Windows trojan that encrypted parts of itself with (pseudo)random keys.

    (Don't mind me though, my knowledge of encryption basically ends at bitwise XOR.)

    Relying only on an antivirus is a good way to get infected anyway.

    The days of trusting an antivirus to protect you are gone. Nowadays you need a HIPS or sandboxing to protect you anyway.

    IMO this is only a small step on a long road. For the past few years, signature based detection has gotten steadily less and less reliable; and strategies for dealing with infection have gotten more generalized, not to say ham-fisted.

    I use Comodo, which includes both HIPS and an automated sandbox.
