"Huawei Said to Be Preparing to Sue the U.S. Government

The Chinese electronics giant Huawei is preparing to sue the United States government for banning federal agencies from using the company’s products...

The lawsuit is due to be filed in the Eastern District of Texas, where Huawei has its American headquarters,...

The move could be aimed at forcing the United States government to more publicly make its case against the Chinese equipment maker. It is part of a broad push by Huawei to defend itself against a campaign led by the United States to undermine the company, which Washington sees as a security threat...

The lawsuit that Huawei is preparing to file in the United States is expected to challenge a section of a defense spending authorization law that was approved last year. The provision blocks executive agencies from using telecom equipment made by Huawei and another Chinese company, ZTE..."

I have no doubt that a company that is active in China is controlled by the government, but it would be nice to see some proof of what Huawei has done or are going to do spy-wise.

Huawei were a subject of 'interest' some years ago due to the UK ISP provider TalkTalk getting into bed with them...

    https://wiki.openrightsgroup.org/wiki/TalkTalk_HomeSafe

presumably the situation is all still as it was, they could be doing anything with that data and may have been doing so for a long time.
    I wouldn`t be surprised whatsoever.

All that Huawei drama is just US gov conspiracy to win the 5G huge market.
    Because:

1- let say telecom companies are in bed with their gov and "spy" on us.
US rather get their own or allies' telecom companies win the 5G war so they can collect/share datas for themselves which they can't if Huawei/China wins.

2- let say telecom companies aren't in bed with their gov. , so all this is just commercial war, we all know US gov is quite adept as backing up by any means their major companies, not a secret.

Look at Australia, major US ally, banning Huawei for 5G very early for "security reasons" , but at same time letting Huawei installing 4G boxes all over the country... Do you see the contradiction? Funny isn't it?

All this is political and commercial war, nothing more, nothing less.
Governments don't want people having real privacy, they want eradicate it.

"Huawei sues U.S. as legal war intensifies

Chinese telecom giant Huawei sued the U.S. government Wednesday night, asserting that Congress violated the Constitution last year when it barred federal agencies from using the company's technology...

The lawsuit — filed in federal court in the Eastern District of Texas, home to Huawei’s U.S. headquarters in Plano — is the latest twist in an escalating legal and public relations battle taking place against the backdrop of the U.S.-China trade talks...

'The U.S. Congress has repeatedly failed to produce any evidence to support its restrictions on Huawei products,' Guo Ping, the company’s rotating chairman, said at a news conference in Shenzhen, China. 'After exhausting all other means to allay the doubts of some U.S. lawmakers, we are left with no choice but to challenge the law in court.'

In a 54-page complaint, Huawei contends that Congress overstepped its constitutional authority in penalizing the company and has impeded its ability to do business with private-sector firms in the U.S..."

Basically it is Huawei (accused of spying) vs 5-Eyes (known to spy).

Information is power, Huawei and its advanced 5G technology is felt as a treat by the 5-Eyes who wants hegemony.

Australia is such a puppet of USA, it is laughable.

[FYI: A reminder -- Story dated March, 2014]:

"N.S.A. Breached [Huawei] Chinese Servers Seen as Security Threat...

But even as the United States made a public case about the dangers of buying from Huawei, classified documents show that the National Security Agency was creating its own back doors — directly into Huawei’s networks.

The agency pried its way into the servers in Huawei’s sealed headquarters in Shenzhen, China’s industrial heart, according to N.S.A. documents provided by the former contractor Edward J. Snowden. It obtained information about the workings of the giant routers and complex digital switches that Huawei boasts connect a third of the world’s population, and monitored communications of the company’s top executives...

One of the goals of the operation, code-named “Shotgiant,” was to find any links between Huawei and the People’s Liberation Army,..

...But the plans went further: to exploit Huawei’s technology so that when the company sold equipment to other countries — including both allies and nations that avoid buying American products — the N.S.A. could roam through their computer and telephone networks to conduct surveillance and, if ordered by the president, offensive cyberoperations..."

    Spy vs. Spy situation.
World biggest spy network (5-eyes) vs. world second largest phone manufacturer controlled by Chinas communist party (founder is a party member and every company in China has to have party member inside company organization by law).

Hell...South Korean and Taiwanese stuff looks better and better every passing day....

US and allies gov shady tactics will fail because they don't have any solid evidences at all , nor they can offer better and cheaper replacement to Huawei tech.
