Have to admit, I was dismayed by the take-over. Particularly the remote-control heritage of the parent, which would be anathema. However, my take is that they actually wanted to use the LastPass technologies to ease/improve authentication on the LogMeIn range. But, I'll do a wait-and-see thing, the takeover has increased the risks. In any case, I only use LP for standard web-oriented accounts (including 2FA), where it's particularly good for the less sophisticated users I run. It's also possible to decorate the passwords stored in the LastPass database with pins you enter separately.
