Perhaps Wilders is not the place to float questions like this, but antimalware developers do hang out here, so... Can anyone knowledgeable in such matters advise me on good reading material re assembly languages, with an eye towards analyzing malware? I've already found one (free) book on x86 assembly, but I'm wondering if something more recent and/or more specialized is indicated.

Thank you very much! The PC-ASM book was the one I'd found, the other stuff is new to me. :D

Hacking: The Art Of Exploitation. There's also a reversing book I'll get the title of, I haven't gone through it yet but I'll have a look tomorrow for the title.

Not exactly a text book, but one of the best resource you will find for free on the web is the OpenSecurityTraining. Start of with this course:

    http://opensecuritytraining.info/IntroX86.html

At the bottom you find graphs that guide you through the other courses depending on what you are interested in.
