Anyone with less than 100% shouldn't be allowed to post at Wilders.

This test was fairly easy, many regulars on this forum would score 10 out of 10

Easiest for those who use and are familiar with antivirus. I didn't expect a "Hall Monitor" to penalize those of us who don't use them and selected Rogue for Real av's because we had not seen or heard of them before.

I got 80% , so i quickly took the test again and saw completely different pictures. The second lot of pictures were mostly rogues and I easily scored 100%
Your reply is arrogant and very immature

Scored 100% all throughout the few tries (as mick92z said that there are different pictures).

What I found was that all the 'real' stuff are MS tools themselves. I guess that's because the test comes from Microsoft Malware Protection Center. The 'real' ones are mainly:

MSE, Windows Defender, Windows Defender (for Windows 8 ), Windows Defender Offline, MS Safety Scanner, Windows Firewall, Action Center.

Nevertheless, it was written on the 1st page:

"Can you tell the difference between real antivirus software and an actual virus?"

Technically speaking, not all of the MS tools included in the pictures are "real antivirus software" and rogue security software need not necessarily be 'actual virus' :p

They could have made it tougher if they included real AVs from other vendors. I'm pretty sure I'd have gotten a lesser score if they did that (as I'm not familiar with most other vendors products) ;)

After a second try I got it right. ;)

Not a user of anything security wise from Microsoft the first try I thought there were some fake MS items thrown into the mix. :D

    Your Score:
    100%

All images I saw were of rogue AV.

Come on people, most here know all (or most) brands of reputable (real) AVs and their GUIs, if you see something suspicious, do not hesitate to pick it as rogue..

Grab a brain, will you. Some of us don't use av of any kind because we have the knowledge and ability not to need one. You scored 100% so this makes you a security expert !? What a joke! You lucked out because you were presented with nothing but obvious rogue antivirus.

And why is that. I probably wouldn't get half of them right as I haven't look at an antivirus in over two years. Simple reason. I don't run any of them.

I haven't been running real-time AV either and haven't looked at most these days but the test itself doesn't involve other reputable AVs.

Getting a 100% score is easy if you're familiar or have seen MS tools (on articles for e.g) as you would identify them. If not, it's understandable. Some may mistake one of the 'real' MS tool as a rogue. There's no point in arguing who deserves to be on Wilders merely because they didn't get 100% score. Nothing to feel proud or shame about. Heck, I'm pretty sure the mods would agree that generally anyone except for spammers are welcomed here.

Now, for the 'rogues' themselves: the ones in the test are fairly easy to spot - some try to imitate the GUI found in MS tools (but the names sort of give them away) while others use scare tactics to cause panic/alarm. Rogue software tend to scare users to make a payment. That's one clue. There are other rogues out there that may be more deceiving....

Seriously though, I hope people don't judge 'rogue' based on the GUI only. Otherwise, it's gonna be an easy cake for rogue authors. Wow - I can't believe I'm writing all of this for a mere test. o_O
