    Gentlemen:
I purchased the Terabyte package eleven years ago and have only done full backups. I have used Image for Linux exclusively for quite a few years as it's much faster than IFW. Recently, decided to make an Incremental backup of Windows 10, but the option is not presented. I can have choice to select 'changes,' but no choice for Incremental or Differential. I have re-read the manual multiple times. What am I missing?

I suspect it's my brain failing, but why can't I have the option of which type of backup.

Using IFL ver. 2.99 Many thanks in advance!

    ka6,

See page 49 in the IFL manual. "Creating a Differential or Incremental Backup".

A Differential backup is a Changes Only backup of a Full backup.

An Incremental backup is a Changes Only backup of a Changes Only backup.

    Brian:

On page 53 of IFL manual: I select Backup, then Changes Only, but do not have the option for choosing differential/incremental as shown below. I created a backup, then wanted to create an Incremental backup, but I can only choose "changes" and not have the choice of which type.

    Still stumped, sorry.

One more thought: I made a full backup; then attempted a Changes Only backup, but it took same amount of time and same size as my original backup. No increase in speed or size. Thanks

    ka6,

When you create a Full backup, in the Options section, put a tick in "Speed up Changes Only Backup". This makes a huge difference to future Changes only backup times. You will see hash files created along with the Full backup.

Your page 53 looks like my page 49. I looked at the manual for IFL 2.99-00.

You won't see the words Differential or Incremental in IFL. When you create a Changes only backup you have to select an "existing backup file". To create a differential backup you will browse to a Full backup. To create an incremental backup you will browse to a previous Changes only backup. When creating Changes only incremental backups be sure to select "Speed up Changes Only Backup" each time.

    Understanding this is essential...

Thank you for the info. I'll give it another shot later today, following your suggestions.

I love TeraByte software, by the way. I've tried numerous other brands, but they all disappoint by comparison. TeraByte never fails to deliver.

Greatly appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

I just completed a 'Changes' backup, paying a little more attention to what was taking place, and everything went as it was supposed to.

    Success!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It's greatly appreciated. I've been a long-time reader of Wilders, but had never signed in. I have learned a great deal by reading and listening.

    Thanks again!

ka6, glad you got it working.
Whether you use differentials or incrementals is a personal preference. I prefer differentials.
