Temp Files??

    Running W XP Home Sp2.
    What are the Temp Files that are accessed through Start Run %temp%? Is there any reason not to delete them, and does the system auto delete them at some point in time.

    There are a lot of files there, and it seems that if they are in fact temp files, that they just take up space, without any real benefit.
