My Avatar is a Celtic cross. I chose it for my Celtic ancestry and for my faith.

My avatar is a small photograph of The Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry located in South India .

Sri Aurobindo Ashram is known as a great centre of spiritual endeavour and people from all over the world come to Pondicherry , in South India, to bathe in an atmosphere full of peace, light and joy, to live a life of sadhana and yoga, to see how spirituality can embrace and perfect life.

Originally a frenchwomen, The Mother came to Pondicherry in 1920 and was in full material and spiritual charge of the Ashram since its foundation in 1926 uptil Nov. 1973 when she left her body at the age of ninety five.

The Mother's constant source of inspiration to me is the reason behind my choosing my avatar.

    :)

Hmm, ok. Mine represents a 'gothic elf'...
because I like all mystic creatures,
and anything out of the ordinary, while
    living a realistic life. :)

    ~ although I think I do ~ ;)

    Our very wise "cat~lady", Marja
    once said about me:

    "Just because you're goth,
    you don't have to look dead" :D :D :D

Speaking of things gothic, i've always found the painting by Grant Wood, american gothic to be fasinating and kinda haunting. I'm not sure why...

Mine simply is the logo of the...err..sorry my ;) favorite soccer-club:
    AFC Ajax Amsterdam.

    Why?
Because it's my greatest obsession and favorite past-time (besides playing bridge) and though it's a bit partial, I also think it reflects more than just soccer(-excellence:D ).

To me it stands for striving to perfection, in a beautiful way.

When first arriving here at Wilders I started with an avatar of "Tiger" (Winnie-the-Pooh). I still like it, and have it stored for future use.
Then, when I became a little bored with it, ánd my soccer-thread started to 'blast', I felt the need to show a little more 'bias' :p ;) .

I love the picture of greek hero Ajax in this manner - as a matter of fact:
this is the old logo of the club, which now represents the old pride, spirit, technique and air of 'invincibility' of the club to the 'hardcore' fans (the F-Side).
They think the new logo -which in attachment below is being scared of by the old one:D - stands for commercial exploitation, loss of recognisability, and the decay or even 'downfall' of the club.... and I tend to agree to them.

The old logo is for, & from the hearts of the real FANS.
The new one is for the stakeholders, businessmen....

At this time I'm looking for a more general, personal, suiting avatar to use.
    Sofar I keep on searching.

    regards,
    slam

:) Mine I hope is reflective of my user name "Wildman", I wanted it not to serious either thus I picked Yosemite Sam. Mine was made for me buy an individual whom we haven't seen here at Wilders for a very long time.

    Thanks

my best friend from afew years ago is now one of the world's top DJs. i downloaded one of his sets and liked the track by Juiet, so she's my avatar.
you can download two of his sets at the link below. he's called Desyn. i only downloaded the 03/10/04 mix and i can say it's safe to download. the MD5 is
    8277C42225E7FB8C5815B4DEB8AC3B08
    http://jeffkal.multiply.com/music/item/1

here's a review of the mix from Miami

here's a review of the 03/10/04 mix. if you don't like house music don't bother downloading ;)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/dance/essentialmix/reviews_desyn_masiello.shtml

    ***EDIT***
as they are such big downloads and, becuase of that, you won't download them, you can just listen to them live:
open Winamp, right-click somewhere on it, you should see a fairly full menu with Nullsoft Winamp... at the top. next it says Play with an arrow taking you to where it says URL. click it and put the download's URL in it.

to get the download's URL, right-click where it says "download" and pick copy link address, or your browser's equivalent. then paste it into the URL box :)

No doubt about it - Nat - for "avatar" is basically a sanskrit word meaning 'near to the divine' or literally an 'incarnation' . Choice of her avatar amply bears this fact out.
    :D :D
