    Dang...first the Signal Desktop version leaves stuff unencrypted and now Telegram :eek:

    Well, that's why we use FDE, no?

    It's relatively uncommon to encrypt stuff within the OS. Because that can be easily defeated, if the machine gets pwned. And it's largely irrelevant unless the machine gets pwned.

    But I suppose that multiple levels of privacy/security are better. I played with tomb a bit. But it was just too much hassle.

    Ditto on FDE. But even with FDE it only shows its true strength when it is a "brick".
