I was using an online virus scan ( panda ) and it disinfected my hosts file because it reported the following,

    Virus:Trj/Qhost.Y Disinfected C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

TDS3 no longer recognises the host file to be present so i believe that the panda online scan has deleted the whole file... rather than just disinfect it - i don't believe it was infected anyhow although i did make some changes to it so i could reach the TDS3 private forums.. this may have caused it to think it was infected.

My question is... should i recreate the hosts file?

If so... can anyone advise me how to do that? I don't really know what should be in the hosts file or what extention to save it as.

    Any help appreciated.

Hi, in windows should be a file HOSTS if not there just create it without any extension and paste something in like
    ##Begin ModemWizard(FastIP)
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com
    206.117.161.80 www.samspade.org
    ##End ModemWizard(FastIP)

(you can open it with wordpad or notepad)
