Having just installed the latest version of Ewido, I find that trying to do a scan, the whole computer crashes after about one minute into the scan. Are my other antispy and security programs causing this problem, or it it something more sinister?.

    Me, too.

Strange thing is kids run same security programmes as me and no problems.

We use it as on-demand scanner.

Just downloaded the free limited version from here http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Ewido-Security-Suite.shtml
and it has just scanned twice without crashing PC.

Before, on >5 occasions I installed the trial version and that always crashed. I had the same problem with 3.5, not just 4.0.

If it keeps working, great, otherwise I am happy to use a-squared.

I had a similar problem, not exactly the same though. The program would just dissappear halfway through scan.

Thinking there was something sinister, i turned off system restore, thus deleting any restore points, booted pc in safe mode, performed the scan and there was no problem. I found loads of medium and high risk objects, deleted the lot. Then i rebooted in normal mode, and the program was fine.

Same here crashed after about 2 minutes.
Made a user profile to exclude memory scan, no crashes anymore

I was having this problem too, was crashing when scanning ntoskrn.exe or real close to this filename I can't remember off hand. Seems it happened right after installing the newest windows updates. I run win2k. SuperAntispyware causes me the same trouble. And some of my other programs no longer work either, like tranperentis... so I think it's a problem with the windows security fixes.

I'm using the free version, and I'm also getting a crash (ewido crashes, not the whole system, though), which is troubling because so far it's the only program that is actually detecting and possibly being able to clear an adware on my computer.

I now have it working with the culprit(s) being email notifiers.

Go figure, I can't but I am sure one of you can.

    I have Poptray working OK.

Problems with Pop peeper and Eprompter.

I got SVCHost.exe memory could not be written errors and PC would crash.
