Sygate rule creation

    Hi, i have been using sygate for about three weeks now. I have read about ppl creating rules to restricte programs to using certain ports, protocols and IP's. I was wondering how do u find out what a programe should be restricted to. I am very new to this so if u could go slow it would be much appriciated. I have been to the sygate forum but it was very confusing so if someone dosnt mind going slow i would appreciate it.
